Marathon uranium exploration waste dump was radioactive

Greens MP Mark Parnell has challenged a claim by Marathon Resources that waste it dumped illegally at Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary was not radioactive…….

Mr Parnell says it was not just a simple matter of littering that led to the company’s suspension from exploration work…….

“22,000 bags of waste, it’s not just a question of it being the bags that were the pollution.”

Marathon was suspended from uranium exploration last year and had to clean up the waste which was found buried late in 2007.
