A nurse wonders about radioactivity in dust from uranium mine

Reflection on Dust Storm

ABC Contribute, by Pete 30 Sept 09 “……………Out of curiosity I googled radioactive sites Woomera as I was born in South Australia and knew a little of what Woomera was involved with as a testing range area for radioactive experiments post Second World War era. I came across an article written in the Coober Pedy Times featuring an article called… RED DUST DUMP ORIGINATING AT WOOMERA IS GRAVE CONCERN FOR PUBLIC HEALTH’ Filmmaker David Bradbury: (http://cooberpedyregionaltimes.wordpress.com/2009/09/25/filmmaker-david-bradbury-red-dust-dump-originating-at-woomera-is-grave-concern-for-public-health/)

The reason for writing about this topic is due to seeing the remains of this dust still lying around the university where I’m presently studying which would also be the case no doubt in other locations around Australia where this dust storm occurred. On reflection do we as normal everyday Australians know the contents of the dust that is now around us not to mention perhaps in our bodies as well…………

Just out of curiosity I will collect some of this dust which is quite noticeable in some areas on window ledges etc and see if I can have it analyzed in the medical science lab at the university……….
