Territory MP wants nuke waste dumped in SA ABC News By Michael Coggan Nov 4, 2009 Darwin A Northern Territory federal politician is arguing for a national nuclear waste dump to be built in South Australia.
The Federal Government is still considering a report completed in February on the suitability of three possible waste dump sites in the Territory but is planning to repeal legislation allowing a dump to be built in the Territory.
The Labor Member for Solomon, Damien Hale, has not seen the report but says there is political support for the dump to be built in South Australia.”Now we all know there’s areas of Australia that are already contaminated through radioactivity,” he said………………
The South Australian Government has previously rejected Federal Government moves to build a waste dump in the north of the state.
