Antinuclear

Australian news, and some related international items

Is Ziggy Switkowski ignorant or what?

Ziggy Switkowski announces that Australia will be likely to be getting not 25, but 50 nuclear power plants, and one up and running by about 2020. And he says: ‘overseas experience will shape Australian thinking.”

Is Ziggy Switkowski fair dinkum? Has he not heard of current ‘overseas experience’ – the costs, wastes, and troubles of nuclear power in the UK, USA, and France? Does Ziggy not know of Australia’s water scarcity, of predicted sea level rise, of Australia’s abundant renewable resources?

Or does Ziggy, as nuclear careerist and lobbyist, just bet on the public not making these connections? After all, the mainstream media doesn’t discuss these.
