Officials fired the surface-to-surface Dhanush missile Sunday from a ship in the Bay of Bengal. The missile can hit a target up to 350 kilometers away.
India last tested the Dhanush missile in 2007. India and neighboring Pakistan routinely test-fire missiles. The two countries have fought three wars since partition in 1947, and both countries conducted nuclear weapons tests in 1998.
