Australian Super stops being ethical about uranium mining

Time to rethink our superannuation funds.   One way to participate in the movement against the uranium/nuclear/weapons industry is to use our superannuation wisely.  It’s a sad day, when the last large super fund drops its principles, and succumbs to muddy thinking about ethics and sustainability.
AustralianSuper was one of the last large superannuation funds to offer an ethical exclusion on sustainable investment options…………The ethical exclusion meant mining companies such as Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton were out because they operate uranium mines

AUSTRALIA’S largest superannuation fund is removing an ethical exclusion from its sustainable investment fund because the range of listed companies that fits the criteria is too narrow.

AustralianSuper’s Sustainable Balanced and Australian Sustainable Shares options will no longer exclude companies that receive at least 5 per cent of their revenue from selling or making alcohol and cigarettes, gambling, mining uranium or making weapons.
