Australia blocks shipments to Iran, on nuclear fear

Rudd confirms Iran shipments blocked ABC News 4 Feb 2010
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has confirmed the Federal Government has blocked three shipments of cargo to Iran, but will not say what they contained.
Defence Minister John Faulkner used powers under the Weapons of Mass Destruction Act to stop the shipments amid fears their contents could be used in the country’s nuclear program.
Mr Rudd says Senator Faulkner’s actions were entirely appropriate…………
The United States and some other Western countries suspect Iran is seeking to develop nuclear weapons under the guise of a civilian nuclear power program.
The Islamic republic adamantly denies this, saying its nuclear program is strictly for the production of energy.
