The Northern Territory Government could be investing in a new Central Australian outstation as part of a push to develop a uranium mine, a politician has claimed.Independent MLA Alison Anderson has asked the Indigenous Policy Minister in Parliament why the Government has given $40,000 to the Ooraminna outstation for a bore.
Ms Anderson says the area has no permanent residents.
She says she is concerned the funding may have been provided to traditional owners because of their connection to negotiations over the proposed Angela-Pamela uranium mine.
“I just think it’s a serious question that we need to ask and have the right answer given to us as people in Alice Springs,” she said.
“As we all know we have been protesting about Angela-Pamela going ahead.
“Is this a back-door on the residents of Alice Springs or what’s happening?
