W.A. premier rules out Oakajee port for uranium shipments

No uranium through Oakajee: Premier ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) 25 March 2010, The Premier Colin Barnett has ruled out using the proposed Oakajee deepwater port north of Geraldton to ship uranium products. The head of the consortium developing the multi-billion dollar project, John Langoulant, has been reported as saying uranium is something that could possibly be shipped through the port.

The State Government has repeatedly refused to rule out the Mid West port as a potential location for the shipment of yellow cake.

But Mr Barnett says while yellow cake may eventually be shipped through a WA port, Oakajee is not suitable.
