Tony Abbott has religious faith in nuclear power for Australia

Abbott backs nuclear power, Sydney Morning Herald, July 26, 2010 -Opposition Leader Tony Abbott says he supports nuclear power, but the time is not right for it in Australia.

“It’s in Australia’s interest to have nuclear power. Mr Abbott told Fairfax Radio in Brisbane.

…..”The reason we don’t have a nuclear industry in Australia is because … we have abundant reserves of coal and we have large reserves of gas…..

He admitted that it would make electricity bills more expensive.

“At the moment in Australia to generate power through nuclear would be quite a bit more expensive,” Mr Abbott said.
