Queensland coastal cities suggested for nuclear plants

Nuclear plant for Gladstone? Gladstone Observer Kieran Moran | 10th December 2010 GLADSTONE has been identified as a likely site for a nuclear power plant.

An Australia Institute report states that Gladstone meets the four primary criteria as one of the most likely sites for a nuclear power plant in Queensland.

Along with Mackay, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, the Sunshine Coast and Bribie Island, Gladstone is one of 19 proposed sites around Australia.

And Gladstone locals are split down the middle………….

There are 31 countries operating nuclear power plants, however, overseas evidence suggests that even in countries that rely on nuclear power for a large proportion of their electricity needs, there is a considerable amount of community opposition.
