Nuclear power plants not for Australia?

Nuclear power support tipped to wane – ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation),16 March 11The think tank, The Australia Institute, is tipping support for nuclear power will fall in the wake of the Japan disaster………In 2006, the institute released a list of sites across the country that would be suitable for nuclear power plants.Mount Gambier, Port Augusta and Port Adelaide were included on the list.
However, the executive director, Richard Dennis, says it is unsure nuclear power is necessary in Australia.

“We’re sceptical about the role that nuclear energy could play but still if we’re going to have a debate about it, let’s have an honest debate and you can’t build nuclear stations on floating platforms out to sea,” he said.

“If we build 25 of them in Australia they will be near some people.” Nuclear power support tipped to wane – ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)
