In Central Victoria, they’re keen to save money with solar power
We need a candidate who will roll up their sleeves and work with the four local renewable energy groups to address Powercor policy restrictions on new solar, ensure big polluters don’t interfere with a fair price for rooftop solar and develop business models for community owned renewables projects, with all profits powering the local economy instead of foreign-owned electricity companies.

Wednesday’s Advertiser (“Greens all talk – Country Alliance has the answers”) claimed that renewables and carbon pricing would cause people to struggle with their energy bills.
You can Google “Solar Scorecard” on the web. http://www.solarscorecard.org.au/
All major local candidates are scored according to their commitment to renewable energy – easing cost of living pressures and powering our local economy.
It’s good the Coalition recognises how important the rooftop solar revolution is to Australians as they promise to roll out an additional million solar roofs.
If this targets low-income folk it will be good policy, otherwise it is doing what the market will already achieve and could be like Mr Bickley’s tree planting scheme for climate action – out of date and ineffective. Both major parties support the Renewable Energy Target, with Lisa Chesters supporting its expansion as well as a Community Renewables fund.
However, the Coalition will abolish key policies that foster renewables and we know their “Direct Action” allows big polluters to ‘pollute as usual’.
Furthermore, only the Greens will phase out coal mining.

We invite Greg to actively support local renewables, including energy efficiency, and receive a briefing on these and our local Solar City project.
