Distnguished Aboriginal Elder, Yami Lester, explains the dismantling of Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) lands
“As an elder of the Yankunytjatjara and the APY Lands I state my absolute disappointment and disgust with the governments of South Australia and the Commonwealth. I say “NO” to mining in APY Lands and I say “NO” to homeless centres being built for our people away from their traditional homelands.”
Elder believes the APY Land is being dismantled http://cooberpedyregionaltimes.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/coober-pedy-regional-times-12-09-2013.pdf, by Yami Lester, (OAM) Order of Australia Medal)
Yankunytjatjara Elder Yami Lester is deeply disturbed by the exodus of Anangu from the APY Lands over the past several years. Big mining has been approved for the area but there are no jobs.. He says many families are not returning, causing a decline in the population of the lands. Lester who was awarded the Order of Australia medal in 1981 for service in the field of Aboriginal Welfare says,“The governments are now impatient to mix Anangu into the mainstream, hundreds of kilometres from their homelands.
Nuclear puppet Mundine helps Abbot clear the way for mining industry
Abbott & Mundine want to get rid of aboriginal land councils http://fredleftwich.com/2013/09/10/abbott-mundine-
want-to-get-rid-of-aboriginal-land-councils/ September 10, 2013 by Fred Leftwich
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-09-10/iac-chairman-mundine-keen-to-meet-clc/4948744/?site=indigenous&topic=latest Tony Abbott’s chairman of his indigenous advisory council, Warren Mundine, is seeking to meet with the Central Land Council soon to “get the ball rolling”, what ever that means.
Given the new federal government withdrawing of funding for aboriginal legal services, and it’s attack on the native title act to make it easier for mining companies to access aboriginal people’s traditional land, is it any wonder the government’s main point of attack is aboriginal land councils?
Once Tony Abbott gets rid of any form of aboriginal organisation or representation then it will be much easier for him and mining companies to make billions of dollars off aboriginal land. And what is Mundine’s payment for his role in all this? I think the going rate is 30 pieces of silver.
Typhoon threatens Northen Japan, including Fukushima
Japan Typhoon Threatens Fukushima Nuclear Plant http://www.inquisitr.com/951325/japan-typhoon-threatens-fukashima-nuclear-plant/#2eTV0fAD7JBYctRS.99 The Inquiistr 15 Sept The latest typhoon to hit southern Japan struck on Monday, bringing heavy rains. Officials warned of floods and strong winds that could go on to hit the damaged Fukushima nuclear plant. Around 200 domestic flights scheduled for Monday were cancelled. Most of the affected flights were those leaving Tokyo; train services were also reduced. The storm was carrying winds up to 144
kilometres (90 miles) per hour overnight Sunday and was moving in a north-northwesterly direction. The Japan Meteorological Agency said.It would probably hit southern parts of the main island Honshu on Monday morning, possibly around 9:00 am (0000 GMT) in Shizuoka prefecture, southwest of Tokyo.
The typhoon was then expected to head northeast towards Tokyo and its surrounding region by around noon and cross the northeast including the Fukushima area, according to its predicted track. At Fukushima, workmen have struggled night and day to contain leakages from the nuclear plant after the March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami. This led to the contamination of groundwater by radioactive materials flowing into the Pacific Ocean. With even more torrential rain expected on Monday, the fear is that contaminated water will seep into the groundwater.
Workers frantically pumped water from around highly radioactive tanks at the plant to lower the risk. The typhoon had already brought heavy rain and strong winds in the south and east before even hitting Japan but no major damage was reported. The weather agency has now issued flood warnings and forecasts that the heavy rain will cause mudslides and high ocean waves to many areas along the Pacific coast. Officials hope that the latest Japan typhoon will not further complicate the work at the Fukushima plan.
World Health Organisation covers up is own report on depleted uranium and birth defects
WHO Refuses to Publish Report on Cancers and Birth Defects in Iraq Caused by Depleted Uranium Ammunition http://www.globalresearch.ca/who-refuses-to-publish-report-on-cancers-and-birth-defects-in-iraq-caused-by-depleted-uranium-ammunition/5349556 By Denis Halliday Global Research, September 13, 2013 The World Health Organisation (WHO) has categorically refused in defiance of its own mandate to share evidence uncovered in Iraq that US military use of Depleted Uranium and other weapons have not only killed many civilians, but continue to result in the birth of deformed babies.
This issue was first brought to light in 2004 in a WHO expert report “on the long-term health of Iraq’s civilian population resulting from depleted uranium (DU) weapons”. This earlier report was “held secret”, namely suppressed by the WHO:
The study by three leading radiation scientists cautioned that children and adults could contract cancer after breathing in dust containing DU, which is radioactive and chemically toxic. But it was blocked from publication by the World Health Organization (WHO), which employed the main author, Dr Keith Baverstock, as a senior radiation advisor. He alleges that it was deliberately suppressed, though this is denied by WHO. (See Rob Edwards, WHO ‘Suppressed’ Scientific Study Into Depleted Uranium Cancer Fears in Iraq, The Sunday Herald, February 24, 2004)
Almost nine years later, a joint WHO- Iraqi Ministry of Health Report on cancers and birth defect in Iraq was to be released in November 2012. “It has been delayed repeatedly and now has no release date whatsoever.”
To this date the WHO study remains “classified”.
According to Hans von Sponeck, former Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations,
“The US government sought to prevent the WHO from surveying areas in southern Iraq where depleted uranium had been used and caused serious health and environmental dangers.” (quoted in Mozhgan Savabieasfahani Rise of Cancers and Birth Defects in Iraq: World Health Organization Refuses to Release Data, Global Research, July 31, 2013
This tragedy in Iraq reminds one of US Chemical Weapons used in Vietnam. And that the US has failed to acknowledge or pay compensation or provide medical assistance to thousands of deformed children born and still being born due to American military use of Agent Orange throughout the country.
The millions of gallons of this chemical dumped on rural Vietnam were eagerly manufactured and sold to the Pentagon by companies Dupont, Monsanto and others greedy for huge profits.
Given the US record of failing to acknowledge its atrocities in warfare, I fear those mothers in Najaf and other Iraqi cities and towns advised not to attempt the birth of more children will never receive solace or help.
A United Nations that is no longer corrupted by the five Permanent Members of the Security Council is what is needed.
The Fukushima radiation threat to the Japanese 2020 Olympics is not going to go away
Given these impending problems, how can Japanese Prime Minister Abe possibly say that Tokyo will be safe for the Olympics? He actually said that “there is absolutely no problem” and “the situation is under control.”
Endless Fukushima catastrophe: 2020 Olympics under contamination threat Dr Helen Caldicott RT.com: September 15, 2013 As the escape of radiation at Fukushima seems virtually unstoppable, there are still steps that governments all over the world should take to prevent worst case consequences. One of them would be canceling the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Continue reading
India ‘s latest long range nuclear-capable missile
India boosts arsenal with nuclear-capable missile test (VIDEO) RT News, September 15, 2013 India has conducted a second test firing of a nuclear-capable missile with a range of 5,000 kilometers. New Delhi is struggling to challenge Beijing in the race for missile dominance in Asia.
“The country has established ICBM capability with the successful second test,” said Avinash Chander, a scientific advisor to Defense Minister AV Antony, adding that the next launch would be canister-based.
‘Agni-V’ long-range ballistic missiles are about 17 meters long, with a diameter of 2 meters and a launch weight of about 50 tons, The Indian Express reported. It can carry a nuclear warhead of over 1 ton.
The missile was test-fired from Wheeler Island, off the coast of Odisha. Missile scientist and ‘Agni 5’ chief designer V.G. Sekaran said the test was an “overwhelming success and showed the reliability and maturity of the sub-systems,” the Hindu newspaper reported.
Only Russia, the US, China, France and Britain, reportedly along with Israel, which has never officially admitted to having an nuclear arsenal of its own, are believed to have such long-range weapons……http://rt.com/news/india-tests-nuclear-missile-882/
