The final New South WalesRenewable Energy Action Plan has been launched, detailing three goals and 24 actions to grow renewable energy generation in the state.
The Plan’s three key goals are:
- Attract renewable energy investment and projects
- Build community support for renewable energy
- Attract and grow expertise in renewable energy technology.
The Plan positions New South Wales to increase the use of energy from renewable sources at the least cost to the energy customer.
Key actions of the plan include:
- Improve the process of network connections
- Remove technology-specific barriers to investment
- Support mid-scale solar PV to enable uptake of solar technologies where they are most cost effective
- Request Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal to estimate a benchmark range for a fair price for small-scale generated solar energy
- Implement New South Wales wind energy planning guidelines
- Establish a working group to develop an advanced bioenergy initiative.
Clean Energy Council Chief Executive David Green said the plan demonstrated the New South Wales Government’s commitment to a secure, affordable and clean energy future.
“New South Wales stands to generate 6000 new jobs in regional areas through renewable energy projects, which will provide a boost to local communities.”
