December 11 – Learn about the Secretive Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement

text-TPP-Avaaz-petitionYou are cordially invited to a public meeting about the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement at 6pm on Wednesday December 11 at Earth’s Kitchen 131 Pirie St Adelaide.

Organised by members of Friends of the Earth’s Reclaim the Food Chain, the TPP has wide implications for every Australian, especially members of our collectives.
The Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) is a “free trade” agreement involving Australia, the USA, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, Peru, Chile, Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, Japan and Vietnam. Negotiations are secretive with the agenda being driven by the US on behalf of its global corporations who want to changes to our laws to benefit corporations over people’s rights. We need to protect our health, environment and other laws and uphold the democratic process. Friends of the Earth join with AFTINET (Australian Fair Trade & Investment Network) in calling on the federal government to reject proposals which are against the public interest and publish the full text of the agreement for public and Parliamentary debate before it is signed by Cabinet.
