Australia’s Energy Fiasco: Hhow do we extract ourselves from a deep hole? — RenewEconomy
A diversified and distributed energy systems is feasible, but attractive – except to powerful incumbent interests and those whose thinking is trapped in the past.

Alan Pears is a long-time, highly respected, renewable energy activist, whom I support 100%. Yet even Alan adds to the confusion between energy and electricity. Alan knows the difference but the confusion is of such epidemic proportions that it is difficult not to be infected.
Much of what Alan writes is about energy in general, which as many know includes electricity, heat, light, various fuels, etc. But every now and then he refers to energy when he really means electrical energy. For example, when he refers to efficient electrical devices such as TV’s, computers, phones and solar cars.
The public is easily confused about technical issues and the electricity industry is quite capable of using this inherent problem to its advantages. We (including me) need to be careful not to add to the confusion.
