Hurricane Florence and Typhoon Mangkhut will affect radioactive nuclear trash dumps
Media reports are concerned about the safety of nuclear reactors in North and South Carolina, as the hurricane. storm surges and torrential rain threaten them. If the nuclear power plants survive unscathed, the nuclear lobby will crow about this as a “success”.
But little mention is made of the 9 or more toxic radioactive waste sites, also in the path of Hurricane Florence.
And – the huge danger posed by the much greater weather event – the typhoon that has already affected the Marshall Islands, with its dome covering nuclear weapons wastes.
