Another earthquake could topple Fukushima nuclear reactor

Richard Lloyd Parry, Tokyo, The Times, May 29 2022, One of the melted-down reactors in the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power station is resting precariously on a fragile frame of corroded supports and is vulnerable to being toppled over by the next strong earthquake, photographs taken by a robot have revealed.

The interior of the stricken reactors is too radioactive for humans to enter safely, but a remote-controlled robotic camera has sent back pictures from reactor No 1, one of three which melted down in 2011 when a tsunami caused by an earthquake knocked out the cooling systems at the plant………………..
