Isn’t it beaut! There’s a particular type of young man who feel the need to hate and be violent. Waiting for such men is the ever-simmering philosophy of Nazism, with its no.1 principle of anti-semitism.
Now at last, after such a long drought of support for Nazism, along come Hamas and the Netanyatu regime in Israel, providing a convenient reason for Nazis to spread hatred of Jews.
The picture above shows a a very recent march of neo-Nazis in Bendigo, a country town in Australia. Nazi symbolism, including the Nazi salute, are banned there by law. But they can still get their message across with their black outfits, nearly-Nazi symbolism, and hate speech.
Not all that surprising to find a little sprouting of Nazism in Australia, seeing that many Nazi war criminals and collaborators fled to Australia at the end of World War 2. Those philosophies of anti-semitism have deep roots in European history, and still influence the thinking of some groups in Australia, and in other lands that received the Nazi fugitives.
We don’t get to hear much about the Jewish Voice For Peace, and the many intelligent and compassionate Jews who reject what the Israeli government is doing to the Palestinians, (as well as rejecting the atrocities done by Hamas) .
No – it’s so much easier to blame all Jews for the genocide in Gaza - Gaza as the modern-day horror - the new Auschwitz being perpretated by Jews.
This whole continuing catastrophe is a bonus to extreme right-wing and anti-semitic groups. Not being Jewish myself, I can hardly imagine what it must feel like, to see these hatreds rising up again, and know those fears of persecution still have some basis in reality.
Thankfully, there are many Jews and non-Jews who see the whole picture, and reject the cruelty being inflicted on the Palestinians.
My hope is that sanity will prevail, and world leaders will listen. All that the USA has to do is to stop Biden’s hypocrisy, stop providing the weaponry to Israel, reject Netanyahu, and start working with peace-makers. There must be a way for fairness and decency for the people of Palestine and the people of Israel.
Meanwhile, the Western world must stop its pretending that the genocide of Gaza is OK, and start noticing the fodder that this is providing to reinvigorate Nazism.

That was a meaningless lie. (If you didn’t know, it should be Undecided)
Now the nuclear lobby comes up with “Part of a balanced mix”. Nothing balanced about including super-expensive, dangerous, ever too late-for-climate nuclear power into climate action strategies.
ABC Listen 4 Dec 23, Thousands have gathered in Dubai this week for the COP28 climate summit, with more than 100 countries this year pledging to triple world renewable energy use by 2030.
20 countries have also pledged to triple nuclear energy capacity by 2050, a move the opposition Climate Change spokesperson Ted O’Brien supports, but still can’t say how much it would cost taxpayers to build.
COP 28 A sorry tale of climate hypocrisy
Yeah, we’re all whingeing about United Arab Emirates hosting the COP28 Climate Summit, while quietly making sure that their oil industry booms on.
Because we, the righteous Western nations are doing so much to slow down global heating. And we are. the USA has its worthy Inflation Reduction Act- cuts down on the home use of oil gas and coal, and USA promotes renewable energy, heat pumps, electric cars.
Canada has its Net-Zero Emissions Accountability Act, cutting down on domestic greenhouse gas emissions. Australia is promoting renewable energy and electric cars at home. Norway is big on electric cars, and encouraging climate-friendly systems, at home.
But the reality is- take Australia as an example – the world’s largest exporter of coal, and big exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG). USA is a huge exporter of LNG. Canada – oil and natural gas exports. Norway – huge supplier of oil and gas.
All of these national governments approve and support the expansion and export of fossil fuels, while sanctimoniously bleating about “net zero” at home.
Sure, let’s criticise Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber and his lot. But the big Western players are in reality even bigger polluters.

This news roundup has become too long. I am going to try to limit the headlines about the Israeli and Ukraine wars, as not being actually “nuclear” news. That’s harder than you might think, as in each case we are brought closer to the brink of nuclear wars. (Those excluded items will still appear on nuclear-news.net.

Especially relevant to Australia? Why?
Because they just had a major victory – filling the public with fear and distrust, and so winning the “NO” vote against an indigenous Voice to Parliament.
Who are the the Stink Tanks?
Posing as impartial advisers, these “Think Tanks” provide reports and articles designed to direct governments, and educational and other social organisations, towards policies that improve the profits of big corporations, and remove barriers to their profits, The barriers would be regulations, especially those involved with protecting the environment, and the rights of indigenous people.
How does the Atlas Network operate to spread these messages?
Apart from some funding, and training support, the real focus of the Atlas Network is on LANGUAGE –teaching the stink tanks how to use words to manipulate thinking. George Orwell alerted the world to the way in which fascism uses language, and wrote of Newspeak. Now the Atlas Network perfects the method – repetitively using vague and deceptive words to convey a lying message that is aimed at molding public opinion.
Sometimes these words are straightout lies: sometimes just vague words in which the meaning is distorted. The word “Elite” is a good example – now used to discredit scientists and other experts, so that the public comes to distrust them, and to rubbish their opinions, and their reports, particularly about regulations to protect the environment and indigenous rights.
FEAR is indeed the currency of the Atlas Network. Fear and distrust of regulations, of officers and organisations involved in human rights and environmental protection. So these stink tanks work to weaken laws, and discredit agencies of human support – such as the United Nations.
Side by side with those messages of fear, come the lying messages of reassurance – for example the story that global heating is not happening, or, if it is, it has nothing to do with human activities, -greenhouse gas emissions. So we don’t need to worry, or to do anything to stop these emissions. So we are reassured that nuclear power is “clean “green” “safe” “cheap” “nothing to do with weapons” .
What is the motive of the Atlas Network?
Are they evil? Wanting to harm people? Hating the environment?
NO – it’s just one simple thing – company profits. Freedom – defined as – Nothing should impede corporate profits.
This month we shall no doubt see some wonderful activity by the hundreds of stink tanks affiliated with the Atlas Network, leading up to, and beyond, the COP 28 Climate Summit, as they parrot out soothing messages about how all is well, in control, we don’t need to act on climate change.
And who funds the Atlas Network?
Fossil fuel companies and tobacco firms. Atlas has received funding from Koch Family Foundations, the Bradley Foundation. DonorsTrust and Donors Capital Fund. The Atlas Network receives much of its funding from libertarian and right-wing organizations and individuals
What can we do about this?
Well, I don’t know – but at least we can be alert to their language – alert to those repetitive, misleading words:
There are the “hooray” words – “justice”, “life”, “freedom” and those “positives” – “clean” “green” etc.
There are the “negatives” -“Hitler, “taxes” – and words used negatively “elites” “bureaucrat”, “government official” and “public servant “.
And as well, there are vague, really, almost meaningless words – that waffle, weaken, and obscure the argument- “may” “can” “could” “might” , “arguably”.

I have an idea, based on no evidence whatsoever. Also it’s an idea that no-one else has suggested.
It’s about Joe Biden’s visit to Israel. I reckon that:
Biden could persuade the Israelis to
- not make a ground military assault on Hamas, – which would sound good.
- to make it easier for the Gazans to get out – which also would sound good.
Then Biden could appear as a good mediator and even peace-maker.
Meanwhile,USA could provide Israel with heaps more weapons, rockets whatever, so they could bomb the shit out of Gaza, (see great cartoon in today’s print version of The Age)
That would achieve the removal of the whole population of Gaza – brilliant ethnic cleansing – to the applause of the world.
And as with Ukraine – great profits for the weapons companies – and not a single American soldier lost.
