Review: Corporate culture of deceit: asbestos, uranium

a-cat-CANReview: Corporate culture of deceit: asbestos, uranium. Martin Ferguson. Pro-nuke hype, Gas deals. – Christina Macpherson 25 August 09

10 corporate directors of the asbestos company James Hardie were found guilty of deception, due to their cover-up of the true state of Hardie’s compensation fund for asbestos cancer victims. History repeats itself. Corporate leaders lied for decades about the health dangers of asbestos. Corporate leaders lied for decades about the dangers of cigarettes.
Corporate leaders now lie about the uranium/nuclear industry. Like the asbestos and tobacco men, they are likely to make their millions at the expense of many cancer victims.

Martin Ferguson, despite promises about “an open, transparent and credible process” is about to decide on a nuclear waste dump, but without consulting concerned Northern Territory traditional owners

A sudden burst of pro-nuclear hype from Labor’s right wingers – Paul Howes, Bob Hawke, and some independents getting on board with them. – panic about the collapse of the company Australian Nuclear Energy?

Big expansion of gas sales to china planned. I don’t know what tio think here – environmental hazards, yes. But gas as a reasonable transitional energy source, in the move from high carbon to zero carbon?

  1. It’s sickening that there were people who knew about asbestos since the beginning of the 20th century and didn’t do anything about it. http://www.weitzlux.com/asbestos-timeline_1962611.html
