Business SA calls for “bold and brave” reforms in its Charter For A Prosperous South Australia | Adelaide Now Daniel Wills February 16, 2010
“……The charter challenges political leaders to adopt reforms including:…….PURSUING development of a nuclear energy industry to “take advantage” of the state’s enormous uranium stores…..
Australian Conservation Foundation nuclear free campaigner David Noonan said high set-up costs made nuclear an unviable energy source for SA.”I don’t see any commercial proponent being willing to stump up the extremely high capital costs in nuclear,” he said.
“We could be rolling out renewables now, we could be engaging in energy efficiency and having that debate.”
Mr Noonan said the large volume of greenhouse gas expelled in mining the fuel for nuclear plants debunked claims it was a “green fuel”…..Key demands include mass amalgamation of local councils, introduction of voluntary voting at state elections and abolition of Parliament’s Upper House.
