S.A. election: Transparency needed – Who’s Behind Aboriginal Candidates?

to date it appears she not only allows another to speak for her, but also someone behind the scenes is running her campaign.

Many interesting questions have arisen from the candidacy of Lynette Crocker for a seat on the South Australian Legislative Council. by Mark M Aldridge, Independent Candidate for the Legislative Council 18 March, 2010

Running under group “SA Change”, forgetting the similarity to another candidates “Change is necessary”, the issue raised here is one of whom Lynette is representing and in fact whom is she speaking for?

During a recent meeting with some of the Kuarna Nation to address this issue, I was asked to seek clarity on the matter.

Any candidate canvassing the support of the electorate must do so in an open and transparent manner, to date it appears she not only allows another to speak for her, but also someone behind the scenes is running her campaign.

All that aside, it would be inappropriate if the electorate of South Australia rewarded her with their vote in the false belief that she represents the Kaurna Nation, as her campaign material seems to imply.

It is contentious issue like this that blur the ideal of honest democracy, as such the electorate deserve nothing less than the truth about Lynette’s candidacy, clarity of whom she purports to represent, and if in fact she believes it is the Kuarna Nation, how she comes to that belief.

If as it seems Lynette is the figure head of another’s campaign, it would indeed be fair to know just who that is, and what their true motives might be, for no other reason than the transparency we all expect from our budding representatives.
