USA looks like giving up on selling nukes to India

the chances of altering how the legislation works appear to be dimming….it looks increasingly likely that the Obama visit will center instead around job-creating deals for the U.S………..Nowhere did the statement contain a reference to the nuclear deal.

But the chances of altering how the legislation works appear to be dimming. A senior Indian government official Friday said, “The law is final.”

The problem with the legislation from the U.S. side is that it exposes equipment suppliers to liability in the event of a nuclear accident. Other liability legislation elsewhere typically has shielded suppliers and channeled liability to plant operators………..the Indian government official said India wasn’t interested in changing a sensitive law, passed by Parliament, by executive order……But it looks increasingly likely that the Obama visit will center instead around job-creating deals for the U.S………..Nowhere did the statement contain a reference to the nuclear deal.
