Greens urge against mining licence renewal – ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation), 11 Oct 10, The Greens say expiry of Marathon Resources’ exploration licence in the Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary of outback South Australia gives the SA Government an ideal chance to kick the company out for good.In 2007, Marathon was caught illegally dumping waste in the sanctuary in the Flinders Ranges and was made to clean it up.The company’s exploration licence has expired thisweek and the Greens MP Mark Parnell says the Government should allow its rights to lapse.

“Allowing the Marathon Resources licence to expire, not renewing it, would be a fantastic start to the long-term protection of the Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary,” he said.
