USA Today reports that L-3 Communications, which makes the TSA radiation scanning machines at the center of controversy spent millions on lobbying government officials over the past few years to get government contracts to build the machines.The company gave Congressmen and Federal Agencies $4.3 million in the first nine months of 2010. Rapiscan Systems, which also helps build the scanners hired Michael Chertoff, who served as Homeland Security Chief under George Bush and spent $271,500 on lobbying so far this year too. In return it has received $41.2 million in government contracts for their scanners this year.
Meanwhile passengers continue to face humiliation by TSA agents if they choose not to get a dose of radiation from their new scanning machines as reported by this Detroit newscast:
