Would YOU buy meat from land hosting a radioactive trash dump?

plate-radiationNT cattleman offers to host nuclear waste dump 6 Oct 14 “…….recently Federal Resources Minister Ian Macfarlane has been looking at pastoral leases, and his problem could soon be over.

A Northern Territory cattleman, John Armstrong, from Gilknockie Station, 250 kms south of Katherine, says he’s willing to have the nuclear waste dump built on his property.  Why?  Because it’s a money spinner………

You might wonder why a cattle producer would want a nuclear waste plant anywhere near his cattle but Mr Armstrong has such vast tracts of land at his disposal, the facility would be a long way from where the cattle are raised, he said.

But something’s not right here.  There’s no way in the world I would buy meat from a supermarket or a butcher if I had the slightest suspicion it was produced on the same property housing a nuclear waste dump. It’s just not cricket.

To date, Mr Armstrong hasn’t been in touch with the federal minister but he’s watching and waiting for a government announcement for interested parties to apply……http://annamariacom.blogspot.com.au/

  1. Nuclear testing fails to take into account weather where it has been reported shortly after the Marralinga tests wind then rain brought radio activity to ground level over Brisbane.
Also there is a threat to ground water contamination and perhaps the large underground basins ( aquifers ) with contaminated water pumped out to enter the food chain some distance from the contamination site.
The arrogance of the British left much to be desired concerning aboriginal people and their health.

    • 1 – Marralinga tests were nuclear BOMBS, they were not waste storage facilities there is no comparison you can make here.
2 – The threat to ground water is over exaggerated, the facilities would have to be built in geologically stable areas – the waste is not ‘poured’ into the ground nor is it stored in barrels. It is rather stored in tremendously safe vessels which are available for viewing on Google.
