Antinuclear

CALLS from the Fairfax branch of the LNP to investigate nuclear power at their state conference in Brisbane this weekend does not sit well with me.

Three energy-related motions submitted to the convention from Federal MP Ted O’Brien’s Fairfax branch call for the Federal Government to adopt policies to support the building of new coal-fired power stations with the ability to deliver reliable and economic power, that the Federal Government reduce current subsidies paid to the renewable energy industry and that the feasibility of nuclear-powered energy generation is investigated.

While none of the ideas voted on at the LNP state conference are set in stone, I for one am concerned about any talk of a nuclear-powered Coast……

I have been a big supporter of Mr O’Brien; in a short time he has done a lot of good for the Coast, but I wouldn’t support a move for nuclear power here.
