Adelaide weather: Another scorcher as KI bushfire continues to burn, Adelaide Now Gabe Polychronis, Mitch Mott, The Advertiser, December 7, 2018 A large bushfire continues to burn on Kangaroo Island, as the CFS bring in dozens of reinforcement firefighters and trucks ahead of expected wind charges later today.
It is one of several fires burning across the state as the mercury soars. By 1pm Adelaide had reached the expected maximum of 38C and an hour later it was almost 40C — and over 40C in many areas north of Adelaide.
An additional 55 firefighters along with 10 firetrucks have arrived at Kangaroo Island from the mainland to support local crews on Friday.
In addition, four waterbombing aircraft are continuing to dump water from above.
Several other smaller fires also are burning around the state, including at Emu Flat Rd, Keith, near Mount McIntosh Rd at Naracoorte, and Buckleboo Rd, Cortlinye, near Kimba……..
The Gosse bushfire was downgraded on Thursday, but it is currently about 1200 hectares in size and burning uncontrolled in scrubland with some communities still at risk.
Residents near Gosse are being asked to stay vigilant as the CFS issued a “Watch and Act” message for the area.
