  1. The Federal Government report shows that in the 29 years from 1990 to 2019 the per capita emissions intensity (PC EI) has fallen by 40%. The change is far from smoothe but the average rate of decrease is about 1.3% per annum.

    I haven’t read the whole report, just the summary, and I’m not sure if bushfire emissions are included in the data. The report does say that the 2019-2020 bushfire emissions are being calculated.

    The GDP emissions intensity (GDP EI) decreased by about 60% (average of about 2% per annum) over the same time period. The graph (figure P1) makes the GDP EI decrease look about double the PC EI but this is due to a dubious choice of scales. The GDP EI is itself unreliable because it depends on what’s in the GDP.
