Solar energy shining in Queensland and Victoria

Solar farm thrives in heat ABC News By Chrissy Arthur  Nov 20, 2009 The extreme heat in outback Queensland is proving ideal for the state’s first solar power station. The $4 million solar farm at Windorah is now providing most of the towns power during the day.Ergon Energy spokesman Steve Leighton says the facility has been coping well with the extra demand as temperatures climb into the 40s.”Since Tuesday really we’ve been looking at about 80 per cent of the town through the daylight hours we’ve been able to supply through the solar panels,” he said.”The five dishes are now fully operational.
“We’ve been generating around the 100 kilowatts between 9:30 and 4:30 in the afternoon so everything seems to be synchronising well with our diesel units there as well.”
