Aborigines seek review of uranium mine approval
Court to review Federal approval of uranium ABC News 11 Dec 09 A review has been sought in the Federal Court of the approval for Australia’s fourth uranium mine in South Australia’s far north-east.The action was taken by the Indigenous Justice Advocacy Network.
The Federal Environment Minister Peter Garrett granted environmental approval to the Four Mile Mine project in July.The mine is about 10 kms from Beverley and is one of the largest uranium discoveries in Australia in the past 25 years.Quasar and Alliance Resources own the mine in a joint venture and are not involved in the court action.
