Renewable energy option for Australians
Green becomes an easier option, Sydney Morning Herald, June 10, 2010 All power companies must offer renewable energy options, writes Keeli Cambourne. With environmental awareness increasing, most energy companies are responding to demands from consumers for green power options. And with the help of the government-funded GreenPower program, consumers can be assured they are getting what they pay for.
The GreenPower program, which has been offered nationally for about 10 years, sets strict environmental standards on its generators and only accredits those based predominantly on renewable energy that produce no net greenhouse gas emissions…………..”Over the last six years, GreenPower has had an average of 340 new customers every day and there are now nearly 900,000 GreenPower customers Australia-wide. GreenPower has helped make renewable energy in Australia viable and the more people that sign up for it, the cheaper renewable energy is likely to become in the future through economies of scale.” Green becomes an easier option
