New hope for Australia to get real Climate Change policy

Wong negotiates renewable energy plans, Sydney Morning Herald, June 23, 2010 The Rudd government is preparing to unveil a new climate action policy ahead of the next federal election, likely in a few months.
The government is under pressure from some of its own MPs to come up with an alternative to the carbon pollution reduction scheme which has been put on hold until at least 2013.
But one option – an interim carbon tax – is unlikely.
That’s because the measure can’t be delivered by the current Senate where the tax’s main backers, the Australian Greens, don’t have sufficient numbers with Labor for a majority, Senator Wong said.
