Australians don’t want nuclear plants near their homes

Senator Brown also urged Senator Hutchins to nominate proposed locations for a nuclear power plant in his home state of NSW.

Most won’t want nuke power near home:Brown, Sydney Morning Herald, 1 Dec 1o, Federal Greens Senator Bob Brown says while a majority of Australians might support nuclear power, most wouldn’t want to see a plant near their homes.Senator Brown also said nuclear power was too expensive and would be damaging to the environment.

“The opinion polls show there may be a majority of Australians who would back nuclear power, but there’s a vast majority who don’t want it in their back yard,” he told reporters in Sydney on Wednesday……..A number of MPs and senators – including Labor Senator Steven Hutchins – have suggested the ALP should reconsider its ban on nuclear power in Australia.

Senator Brown also urged Senator Hutchins to nominate proposed locations for a nuclear power plant in his home state of NSW.

“Where’s he going to have his nuclear power stations?” Senator Brown said.

“Let’s put a marker on the ground, X marks the spot, and see if the people in that locality want it.”……………
