Australia waits for government action on Climate Change
Ms Gillard may set a national target for energy efficiency, as China has done.

After years of heated debate, it’s largely back to square one on climate change.
Green groups detect a whiff of hope while businesses are nervous – there’s a huge amount at stake and investment in energy has stalled.
The easiest way for Australia to cut the greenhouse gas emissions blamed for global warming is to cut the use of coal-fired electricity.
A tax on carbon pollution via an ETS is one way to go about it, but that’s been delayed.
Or the government could reform the electricity industry to oblige people to cut their power use – an “energy efficiency” scheme.
A government taskforce has just handed in its report into energy efficiency, and it’s understood to have pushed for such a scheme……….Ms Gillard may set a national target for energy efficiency, as China has done.
