A bit of good news -The Path to a Sustainable Civilisation

It’s a watershed moment – on 2 counts:

1. Ukraine. The determination of the USA-led Western countries to bring Ukraine into NATO is a red flag to Russia, and current events, indicate that the West, and its charismatic super-star Zelensky, will not countenance any negotiated end to the war.

2. The IAEA’s Rafael Grossi has made it clear that the Fukushima nuclear wastewater MUST be emptied into the Pacific, to ensure that this practice is accepted, for the continued growth of the nuclear industry world-wide.

Christina notes. IAEA hypocrisy, and the little Fukushima nuclear radiation mill.       And the prize for HYPOCRISY goes to Rafael Grossi,Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency. No real research into the effects of releasing nuclear waste-water into rivers and seas. Oh goody! That means it’s OK, (doesn’t it?)

Recent nuclear news

This newsletter short, as I have been ill in hospital for nearly a week. (Fine now.)   It did give me time to think. One thought: people liken the Russian advance on the Donbass, invasion of Ukraine, to the Nazis in WW2. That is so incorrect. So wrong to equate this situation to the evil philosophy of “Aryan superiority” that engulfed Germany from 1933 to 2 Sept 1945.

Week to June 19, in nuclear news

A bit of good news .  The ‘lost’ underwater forests that came back from the dead.

Climate. Greta Thunberg: not phasing out fossil fuels is ‘death sentence’ for world’s poor…….   . Oil-rich nations dominate COP28 – now offering rich sponsorships, in the effort to silence critics. Fossil fuel lobbyists will have to identify themselves as such in registering for the UN Cop28 climate summit,

Environment.     Global biodiversity crisis

Nuclear. Russiamoved small “tactical” nuclear weapons to Belarus, sparking anxiety that the Ukraine war could “go nuclear”. Meanwhile, I have no doubt that Russia propaganda is portraying the war as being won by Russia.  And it is also patently obvious that Western media depicts the Ukraine “counter-offensive” as being a winner.  What gets me is that we – that’s the USA and all its “like-minded” hangers-on – are not actually at war against Russia. So we don’t really have to have the blanket of anti-Russian spin thrown over every news item of this proxy war, (as is the  practice in a real war)

Today is World Environment Day. What a joke! What are our illustrious leaders worrying about?  They, the male-dominated  national chiefs are all about their usual preoccupation –  getting ready to wage war against each other. That’s the important thing –  climate change gets a mention in passing – the occasional “motherhood statement”.

Biden too scared to come to Australia because of protests about Julian Assange?

Darn it! I was just about to buy my “Free Julian Assange” shirt – to wear in Canberra, and at the Sydney Opera House, and join thousands of others protesting – wherever Joe Biden dares to show his face in Australia.

USA Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said on Tuesday that a deal on the debt ceiling negotiations might be made by the end of this week. So – perhaps all the panic about the US Debt Ceiling will not be necessary? So – does Biden really need to cancel his visit to Australia?

Never mind – he’s still going to Hiroshima for the G7 summit. That’ll be OK. Everyone will say worthy things about how there must never be another nuclear bombing, and how we must all send drones, tanks, missiles etc to Ukraine . And they’ll say it politely -that’s the thing.

As for those bloody uncouth Australians – heck – someone might throw a rotten egg at Biden, – such is our rage about the persecution of Julian Assange. I mean – the Australian Prime Minister will of course bend over backwards to be polite, and not mention Assange. And Julian’s family and his other prominent supporters will be courteous.

But ya can’t count on the rest of us downunder colonials to be nice about it.

Yes Joe, – safer to go straight home from the G7 – give Australia a miss.

TODAY. Time for a laugh – in this sorry world

My thanks to Caitlin Johnstone for her jolly thought about how we good upright Westerners can destroy Russia. We’re being told by our betters, the Western experts – that the recent drone attack on the Kremlin could be   “ a false flag operation by Moscow  designed to justify more intense attacks in Ukraine or more conscription“.

So, as Caitlin observes, the logical conclusion is to send heaps of weaponry to Russia and let Russia destroy itself!

Another laugh could come from watching the gyrations of the Australian government, as it aims for setting up a high-level radioactive waste dump on Aboriginal land. (ABORIGINAL LAND is, of course, what they mean when they say ‘A “REMOTE SITE“).

The Australian government is currently fighting a legal battle against an Aboriginal group who are objecting to the government siting a radioactive waste dump on their traditional land.

At the same time, the Australian government is ever so piously saying that it wants to establish an “Aboriginal Voice to Parliament”.

Penny Wong – a huge disappointment to me.

Penny Wong – a huge disappointment to me – her mindless enthusiasm for U.S,. militarism, and her mealy-mouthed weasel words pretending to support Julian Assange, while really backing the USA persecution of Julian.

I would be glad to be proven wrong – but I think that “quiet diplomacy” is intended to just shut us all up.
