Aliens spying on nuclear plants? Do you believe it?

Well, I don’t.  But I wouldn’t rule out unidentified spying objects –  could be the USA and UK spying on each other, for all I know.  As for Australia – same thing, military spycraft reported in Northern Territory could look like alien  spacecraft.

French uranium workers in danger in Niger

Areva said it had stepped up security around its sites in Niger, where some 2,500 people are employed, including around 50 French citizens, in the operation of two huge uranium mines.

Safety problems with UK’s nuclear submarines

On Wednesday last week, Greenpeace launched a broadside against the European repository plans, arguing that leaders were being misled over safety issues – particularly relating to groundwater contamination. It appears the repository battle is about to go nuclear here, too.

We still do not know whether or how key issues – such as workers’ health and safety, tailings rehabilitation, transport and groundwater impacts – will be addressed by the panel. We fear that crucial issues, such as impacts on workers’ health and communities and nuclear weapons proliferation, will not be addressed at all.

The panel excludes experts in relevant areas such as occupational health and safety, transport, Aboriginal heritage and native title, non-proliferation and safeguards.

Australian, New Zealand, UK, veterans were guinea pigs for nuclear radiation

In total, 25,000 forces members from the UK, Australia and New Zealand were stationed near the blast sites.

Their lawyers claim many were there simply as guinea pigs to gauge the impact of nuclear explosions on human health.

The industry in the US too seems to have been taken aback by the Civil Liability for the Nuclear Damages Bill, 2010, the way it was passed by Parliament. The bill in the present form makes suppliers of raw materials and equipment potentially liable for damages till 80 years after the construction of a nuclear plant.
